It is 1909 in Vienna.

Klara sat up in bed and saw the morning sun, but she was still very tense and thinking about the night before.

Klara made an appointment with Doctor Braun, and went to see him in Vienna the next day.

"We can try to have a talk therapy session to try to resolve your problem," Doctor Braun said.

During the talk therapy, Klara said, "I do not understand why I cannot orgasm."

Doctor Braun said, "It seems that your husband penetrated you properly, and, in line with current understanding, that should have led you to a good climax."  The doctor said, "Klara, you are exhibiting symptoms of hysteria."  He said, "I will need to examine you in order to determine the correct treatment."

Several days later, a few of the members of the Woman's Advancement Society, including Rosa and Klara, went to the office of psychiatrist Doctor Braun in Vienna.  They sat in his waiting room while Klara waited to see the doctor.

At the time of the appointment, Klara went in by herself to see the doctor, and she said to him, "Although you said that it was, my hysteria is not cured."  Klara said, "You did not provide the details of the treatment to me, and I think that you have been dishonest with me."

"Klara, I admit that I deceived you and used a special device called a vibrator to "cure" your hysteria," said Doctor Braun.

"I am very upset about this," Klara said, "and I am asking the members of the Woman's Advancement Society to come into your office."

After Klara told Rosa and the other members about the deception, Rosa said to the doctor, "You will show us the vibrator and where on Klara's body it was used, or we will reveal your deceptive practices to the public."

The doctor co-operated, showed them the vibrator, pointed to the location on Klara's body where the vibrator was used, and he provided a detailed sketch of the location of the clitoris.  He also showed the women how the vibrator was operated.  It turned out that the vibrator is a new, compact model that is easy for the individual woman to also use.

Rosa said, "You will also discontinue your practice of telling women that penetration sex is the only way to orgasm, stop referring to a natural urge as hysteria, and you will loan the vibrator to our society, to be used to add stimulation to the clitoris during penetration sex."

"I agree to your terms," said the doctor apologetically.
